WINEMAKING

100-year-old Shiraz vines planted on black sandy soil part of an ancient river bed.

Selectively picked in early morning hours at 14° Baume to preserve natural acidity and aromatic compounds. The fruit is gently destemmed and berry sorted. 7-day cold soak at 8°C , slowly fermented for 14 days in small open-top fermenters. Peak fermentation temperatures are held at 18°C with gentle pump overs with air twice daily.

Aging 36 months in French oak barrels (100% new), Malolactic fermentation completed naturally in barrel.

Drinking beautifully now through 2055

TASTING NOTE

The Tiberius McLaren Vale Shiraz opens with a deep, alluring presence — a luxurious swirl of black plum, blackberry, and dark cherry enriched by notes of violet, cracked pepper, and cocoa nib. Hints of warm spice, charred oak, and ironstone minerality rise gently from the glass, giving the wine a sense of quiet authority and depth.

On the palate, Tiberius is bold yet seamlessly refined. Layers of blackberry, plum compote, and boysenberry unfold with impressive richness, settling into a powerful, sculpted mid-palate accented by dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and a whisper of black pepper. The tannins are finely honed — firm, elegant, and beautifully proportioned — guiding the wine with confident structure while maintaining an effortless flow. A bright line of acidity carries the dark fruit, adding purity and lift to the wine’s generous core.

The finish is long, savoury, and deeply resonant. Notes of spiced blackberry, cocoa, pepper, and graphite linger with refined persistence, leaving a final echo of warm earth and dark fruit that speaks to both the power of the terroir and the finesse of the season.
