Deep crimson with a dense purple core. Blackberry, dark plum and macerated cherry, then dark chocolate, espresso roast and warm spice. Plush and mouth-filling. Silky, velvety tannin and real concentration. A wave of black fruit carries through, oak, graphite and black pepper on the finish. Dark, bold and rich. Christmas cake, nutmeg, cloves and spice at the end. Confident Vale Shiraz.

The palate is dense and textured with a velvety softness, and a flourishing savoury, spicy nuance on the finish. It's a real mouthful of flavour here, presented quite beautifully. An impressive nose, welding a dab of reduction to great effect: violet, mace, bergamot and charcuterie, all bright, vital and pointed. The palate, mid-weighted of feel, glides across the mouth, massaging the cheeks with svelte tannins. There is nothing hard or brittle, just the right amount of fruit draped across a finely hewn structural corset. A side note, but this is by far the best suite of wines tasted from this address. A revolution seems asunder .

WINEMAKING

The Shiraz was selectively handpicked from 80-year-old vines.

Gently destemmed and cold-soaked for 3 days.

Slowly Fermented for 14 days then gently pressed into a mixture of new and 2-year-old American Oak barrels.

TASTING NOTE

This Small Batch Shiraz displays a full-bodied plush palate with bright & vibrant red fruit characters with hints of spice. Silky tannin finish and great balance.
